Woman sold as sex slave rescued by Sikh organizations in Ferozepur

FEROZEPUR: A case that shames humanity has come to the light in Markhai village in Ferozepur district of Punjab, where a woman was not only sold and bought like a toy thrice but she was subjected to assault, torture that perhaps no one would inflict on animals.

It was only after the help provided by Sikh organizations, the woman filed a complaint with the police and the police have registered a case on Monday. According to information, the victim Ramandeep Kaur said that she is originally from Jalandhar and was married to a young man from Shahkot in Jalandhar and blessed with a daughter out of the wedlock. After the marriage, everything was going well, but suddenly her husband, who was an auto rickshaw driver got married again and threw the victim out of the house, keeping the daughter with him.

Finally, she started living in her parents' house.

Here too, troubles did not leave her and her parents abandoned her. After the death of her parents, she became a burden to the family, so her cousins sold her to a woman, Jyoti in Rajasthan for Rs 80,000, who pushed her to prostitution and and after few years she took her to Ferozepur district to live with her mother in a village.The woman, identified as Paramjit Kaur, made the victim to do housework and kept her tied with chains.

She was not only repeatedly physically exploited even here but was brutally beaten, due to which she got wounds on her body infested with worms in the wounds. Then one day, the victim somehow escaped from there and reached a Gurudwara in Ferozepur and told the entire conversation to the Pathi Singhs, after which a complaint was filed with the police.

Currently, the police have registered a case under section 143 and 144 of the BNS against the Paramjit Kaur, Kavita and two others, including the husband of the victim and her cousin at the Kulgarhi police station clam to have arrested Paramjit Kaur. Further investigations are on and the victim has been getting medical treatment by Gurudwara management.
