#WERIDETOGETHER FEATURED IN PSYCHOLOGY TODAY ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTING IMPORTANCE AND IMPACT OF UPCOMING EXPERT PANEL SERIES, PSAS

Featuring 12 Subject-Matter Experts, #WeRideTogether Hosts a Series of Panels Amplifying the Voices of Safeguarding Professionals to Enrich Upcoming PSA Series Focused on Victims' Experiences

Series Features 12 Subject-Matter Experts including Psychology Today Contributor, Dr. Tess M. Kilwein

, /PRNewswire/ -- #WeRideTogether, a non-profit whose mission is to prevent sexual misconduct in sport through education, awareness, and resources, has been profiled in a Psychology Today article by Tess M. Kilwein PhD, ABPP, CMPC, one of the subject-matter experts featured in their soon-to-be-released panel series. The panel series will support #WeRideTogether's upcoming four-part PSA series highlighting the experiences of victims of sexual abuse.

Dr. Kilwein's article, "A Day with #WeRideTogether," chronicles their time with their fellow panelists, Olympic swimmer Margaret Hoelzer and clinical & sport psychologist Dr. Tyler Miles. Dr. Kilwein specifically spoke about the "perfect victim" trope, how abuse impacts victims for a lifetime, and the dangers of not implementing safeguards in sport.

"#WeRideTogether is more than a nonprofit; it's a call to action. Born to confront the pervasive issue of sexual abuse in youth and amateur sports, the organization is reshaping what safety, accountability, and healing can look like in athletic spaces. Their mission is clear: Every athlete deserves to train, compete, and thrive in an environment free from abuse. Through survivor-centered storytelling, education, and stigma-smashing advocacy, they're creating the cultural shift our sports systems so desperately need," says Dr. Kilwein.

Abuse in sport is widespread – with over 50% of athletes experiencing some form of abuse or misconduct in sport, and 13 to 15 years old being the average age of the first incidence of abuse. #WeRideTogether is dedicated to evidence-based, professional, educational, ethical, compassionate services which create the radical change needed to make sports safer and healthier for all members of athletic communities.

"What unfolded that day was not just a conversation; it was a reckoning," writes Dr. Kilwein, of their experience on the panel. "A reclamation. And, most importantly, a reminder that change isn't just possible: It's already in motion."

Dr. Kilwein was featured on one of four panels, each consisting of three subject-matter experts. Each panel coincided with an upcoming PSA from #WeRideTogether, all focused on the experiences of victims of sexual abuse. The panels, as well as the PSAs, are set to be released this fall.

About #WeRideTogether

Founded in 2021, #WeRideTogether started as an awareness campaign and educational website designed to empower, inform and unite the equestrian community around sexual misconduct prevention and create healthy training environments for all sports. Showcasing powerful first-person interviews from sexual abuse survivors, #WeRideTogether promotes transparent dialogue around sexual misconduct, raises awareness for the many forms grooming and abuse can take, and helps diminish the stigma and fear of coming forward by giving survivors a safe platform to share their voices. The organization has since grown into a 501(c)3 and is creating a blueprint to help make all sports safer for youth, amateur, and professional athletes.
