JAMMU: Security forces launched a joint search operation in the forests of Nud in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district early Wednesday, following intelligence inputs about the movement of suspected terrorists — dressed in military fatigues — in the area. Some local villagers tipped police off after noticing the suspects moving along the Samba-Udhampur-Dhar road in Nud area of the border district. Soon after, a joint team of the Army, J&K Police’s Special Operations Group, along with a team of local cops, initiated a search operation, which continued till late evening, official sources said. With the border town of Samba falling under the traditional infiltration route chosen by terrorists for many years, security forces treat all tips seriously and conduct searches based on any relevant information about potential terrorist presence to instil confidence among locals and thwart terror bids.
