UK-based specialist insurer Hiscox has appointed Peter Clarke as chair designate, subject to regulatory approval.
Clarke will join the board as chair designate on 1 June 2025 and will succeed interim chair Colin Keogh from 1 July 2025.
Hiscox Group CEO Aki Hussain said: "I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Colin for his extended tenure with Hiscox. We have immensely valued his considered counsel over the years, and most recently his leadership of the Board, and we wish him all the best for the future."
Clarke has executive and non-executive experience with FTSE-listed financial services firms, with executive experience in banking and investment management.
His professional background includes a tenure as a solicitor at Slaughter and May.
He spent 20 years at Man Group, where he served as group chief financial officer and CEO.
Beyond his executive experience, Clarke is a seasoned board director.
His past directorships include positions on the boards of Axa Investment Managers, Sainsbury's Bank and a seven-year term as chair of Lancashire Insurance Holdings.
Currently, he holds the role of chair at Redwheel and serves as a non-executive director for Lombard Odier Asset Management across its US, European and Swiss boards.
Hussain stated: "Peter's significant expertise in financial services, his experience of growing businesses in the US, as well as his deep understanding of the big-ticket insurance market make him a great addition to the Board.
“Peter joins us at an exciting moment in the development of Hiscox, as we pursue ambitious expansion plans, and I very much look forward to working with him.
Clarke added: "I have admired Hiscox for some time, particularly the diversity of its offering and the quality of the team, factors which provide a strong platform for further growth. I look forward to joining the business and contributing to the team's exciting plans."
This follows the appointment of Phil Withey as chief technology officer for the London Market, set to commence in June this year.
