Russia launched an intense wave of drone and cruise missile strikes on Ukraine overnight, local media reported early on Friday.
The attacks were targeting the capital Kiev, major cities and the country's far-western regions, The Kyiv Independent reported.
Air raid sirens were heard in all regions, as the Ukrainian Air Force warned that several Russian bombers had taken off and likely already fired cruise missiles.
In Kiev, several fires broke out as a result of the strikes, including in residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure, according to the report.
At least three people were injured, the news outlet quoted Mayor Vitali Klitschko as saying.
The city's military administration warned of potential emergency power outages in eastern Kiev due to the damage.
It was unclear whether the attacks were part of a widely anticipated large-scale retaliation by Russia, following Ukraine's coordinated drone strikes on several Russian military airfields deep behind the front lines last weekend.
