Patrick Mahomes has a special, three-word response to Chris Conley’s announcement.
An old Kansas City Chiefs friend of Patrick Mahomes is retiring to chase a dream ... and the QB is here for it.
Former Chiefs wide receiver Chris Conley announced his retirement on Saturday following a decade of solid work in the NFL. One of his highlights? He was guy who caught the first TD pass thrown by Mahomes at Arrowhead Stadium back on Sept. 23,
Conley, a Georgia product, was taken by KC in the third round of the NFL Draft in 2015 ... so he will always have his ties here.
But now?
Conley will return to his alma mater to attend film school at the University of Georgia, pursuing his dream of becoming a film maker.
It is certainly a unique path for the veteran receiver who spent his first four NFL seasons in Kansas City. He then had stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans and most recently the San Francisco 49ers.
Conley ends his career with a total of 226 receptions for 2,998 yards and 15 touchdowns. His most productive season with the Chiefs came in 2016 when he had 44 receptions for 530 yards, helping the team to the AFC West division crown.
And what does his QB think of it all?
Mahomes had a special, three-word response to Conley’s announcement.
“Congrats my man!!!” Mahomes wrote on Conley’s Instagram post.
Conley himself posted on Instagram that the past 10 years has “been a dream. Getting the opportunity to play in the league was an honor and whether it was catching touchdowns or blocking for them I truly gave it my all.”
