More than 28 people have been killed by Israeli army gunfire in the Gaza Strip near a distribution point for humanitarian aid, the Palestinian WAFA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing hospital sources.
The deaths occurred near an aid distribution point in the Netzarim Corridor and were caused by Israeli forces, WAFA said.
The information could not immediately be independently verified, and the Israeli military has not yet commented on the reports.
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has been distributing aid in the coastal strip over the past month after an Israeli blockade of aid deliveries lasting almost three months.
Palestinians attempting to collect aid from distribution points have repeatedly been killed by gunfire.
The Israeli military has in the past said its forces fired warning shots when Palestinians approached troops in a threatening manner.
