My go-to vacation sandals are cushy, comfy compliment magnets

While I do love a great pair of heels, nine times out of 10, when I'm getting dressed, I grab the most comfortable pair of shoes I can get away with. During the summer, I pretty much live in flip-flops. But I also want to look put together, so for years I've been on the hunt for flip-flops that feel like slippers, but are also fashionable and polished. When I tried on the André Assous Nice Featherweights, I knew I had found the one.

These slip-ons are, without a doubt, the most comfortable sandals I own. I have two pairs (one metallic and one neutral) that I rotate depending on my outfit, and they are the first things I pack for vacation. They are simply that cushy.

These sandals have several features that really set them apart. For starters, the leather footbed is supportive, super-cushioned and lightweight. This is all thanks to André Assous' Featherweight design, which is meant to imitate the natural flexibility of your feet. I also appreciate that these have a one-inch heel for the littlest lift.

Another winning feature is the wide elastic band. It comes in a wide range of colors and textures, keeping feet securely in place and preventing any annoying slapping that can happen with standard flip-flops. The material doesn't rub, doesn't itch, doesn't chafe. And paired with the thin leather thong strap, the shoe doesn't slide around under your foot. (Pro tip: If you're between sizes, the brand recommends ordering one size up.)

I have worn André Assous' Nice Featherweights to walk over 10,000 steps in Manhattan and have sported them all over Europe, so while they aren't cheap, the cost-per-wear for me at this point is well within the worth-it range. They are also simple and stylish — my friends and family always compliment me on the minimal style and ask where they're from.

But I'm not the only fan of these hero shoes. One five-star fan raved, "These are the most comfortable pair of sandals. The entire sole is padded. And the style is super cute. I’ll be ordering in more colors."

Another shared that her "previous pair lasted 7 or 8 years!"
