With so much work already done in Chelsea’s transfer window, now is the time to press the advantage.
Liam Delap and a number of others have already been added to the squad, and the number of positions we need to strengthen is down to just a few. One of the areas that’s been mentioned most is on the left wing, and it’s there that it seems our next target has been identified.
The chatter about Jamie Gittens has been around since the Autumn, but has grown far more intense in the last few weeks as it’s become clear that he’s our number one option. All of the top transfer insiders have weighed in to say that he’s our man, and the latest to do so is Patrick Berger of Sky Germany.
He’s just put out another very pertinent piece of information – that the asking price for Gittens is set at €50m by Borussia Dortmund. That’s miles off the unrealistic €100m that was being thrown around not long ago.
Chelsea’s offer closes in on Dortmund asking price

According to the same report, Chelsea have already made a €35m bid for Gittens and have “agreed a long term contract” with the former Man City academy player.
With just €15m difference now, a deal looks imminent.
Chelsea have eyes set on another Dortmund winger
You can argue until the cows come home about whether Gittens is the right choice for Chelsea and whether he has the potential to be worth €50m, but either way it’s clear that he’s our first choice and the club are targeting him strongly to be the Jadon Sancho replacement in the squad.
Whether you rate him or not, €35m plus some bonuses looks decent value if we can get it.
